Finally I have seen the elusive ptarmigan! Mid-morning today on the Skyline Trail above Paradise, actually on the stretch of the Pebble Creek trail between where it joins the Skyline Trail two separate times, 4-5 White-tailed Ptarmigan. It was snowing fairly hard with 2-5 inches of snow on the ground - crampons of some kind are highly advised. If anyone would like more specific directions please back channel me.
