While on a visit to the mainland from San Juan Island, I had time for

a few hours of birding. This report is mostly from Fir Island, Samish

Island, and Bay View State Park, along with the country roads driving

to and from those locations. No short-eared owls at Rawlins Road, but

lots of other raptors about.
