Hi Tweets,

I did a super-abbreviated Big Sit yesterday at Deception Pass. It was abbreviated because I got up very late Sunday morning having returned late Saturday from my week in Mazama.

I'm glad I decided to do the Big Sit despite the late start since I found two Ancient Murrelets which I needed for my Island County list. They were quite close to shore at the south end of the waterside?parking lot at Deception Pass. Initially they were about 100-150 yards from shore but they were not feeding and the water was calm so I got to study them fairly well. Later (around 3:30) they were far closer to shore, maybe only fifty feet out, but at this time the pair was feeding and I only had brief looks at them before they completely dissapeared.

Other than these two birds there was nothing unexpected.

good birding,
