Hello Birders.
On Saturday at 10.30 PM Martyn Steward was recording
2 Boreal Owls at Sunrise, the spot who Carol and I heard the three Owls on
Sunday the 11th calling to each other fort and back. One of the Owls where a
bit apart from the 2.This could be the first recording ever done in this
area.According to the tape the 2 birds where adult and 1 juvenile.
Years back as we owled this whole area Patrick Sullivan also
heard 2 Juvenile, with 1adult what got completely ignored and told that this
birds don't breed in Washington. But there is a record of a breeding Boreal
Owl was disvovert in one of the boxes what the staff from Tonasket Ranger
Station put up.Andy Stepniewski
wrote a big report up,since he was probable was monitor this birds. It was in
the Washington Ornithology yearly reports.I got all the issues but pulled
the one of the issues out ,when we start looking for the birds in
Mt.Rainier.
I was off on the Internet for the last few Days, but on Sunday Carol Riddle
and I birdied on Sunday the trails where we had Boreal Owls in 2006.Only
mention the big flock coming of Robin migrating on 10000 birds. There was no
Moon and the Stars disappeared also,The dark clouds made it so dark,we
Owlet to after 12.000 PM,and we had no response on Boreal Owls.
This was on Highway 411 Where there was all the big lights on
stopping all traffic going over the pass where the big disaster mudslide
was.It could that the Owls where bothered by the bright light,This a
thoughts.

Cheers Ruth Sullivan
