Hi Tweeters,

It was good to spend a nice quiet morning at home in Battle Ground, Clark
County, this morning birding the "backyard". This is the first time I've
ever been here in mid October so was anxious to see what birds were around.
Although nothing rare or unusual flew over, I saw quite a few birds
highlighted by a push of American Robins and my first of the year for the
yard Varied Thursh and American Pipit.

Cackling type Goose 1722 (9 flocks)
Greater White-fronted Goose 1(!)
Wood Duck 5
Mallard 4
Sharp-shinned Hawk 1
Cooper's Hawk 1
American Kestrel 1
Wilson's Snipe 2
Mourning Dove 5
Anna's Hummingbird 2 (my first time with two in the yard)
Red-shafted Flicker 4
Downy Woodpecker 2
Belted Kingfisher 1
Bewick's Wren 1
Black-capped Chickadee 3
Varied Thrush 3 (year yard bird #109)
Swainson's Thrush 1 (would have preferred a Hermit though!)
American Robin 138
Scrub Jay 2
Steller's Jay 1
American Pipit 4 (year yard bird #110)
Golden-crowned Kinglet 2
American Crow 18
Common Raven 4
Cedar Waxwing 126
Yellow-rumped Warbler 11
American Goldfinch 20
LESSER GOLDFINCH 2
Evening Grosbeak 6
Pine Siskin 4
Purple Finch 9
House Finch 12
Red-winged Blackbird 2
Brewer's Blackbird 7
European Starling 45

Seen yesterday but not today:

MERLIN 1 (flying south fast!)
Red-tailed Hawk 1
Band-tailed Pigeon 14
Winter Wren 1
Ruby-crowned Kinglet 1

No Rock Pigeons or House Sparrows on either day!

Keep your ears and eyes skyward!
