This morning I decided to follow up on a June report from Eric Warner
of possible Eurasian Collared Doves near Enumclaw. Though they've
popped up here & there in King Co over the past few years, there
hasn't been a reliable spot to look as in most other counties.

Well, today I think I can say I hit the jackpot with a bonanza of
Eurasian Collared-Doves [that's the agreed upon phrasing, right?] --
Just a little north of SR 164, west of Enumclaw, on 208th St., I had
at least 10 EUCD around the deGroot farm. They were hanging out in
the conifers and on the power poles, flying around enough to make a
solid count difficult. I had at least 10, but I wouldn't be surprised
if the number was a good bit more.

The initial reports were from 196th, the next road to the west, so
perhaps they are not settled in a single spot just yet.

After a little leisurely birding around South Prairie [couldn't find
Charlie's Bluebirds] I headed down to Commencement Bay for another
shot at the Black-tailed Gull -- no luck today in the couple hours I
was there, but there were still several folks keeping watch.

Good birding,
