Hi everyone,

A few days ago I was in the University District and heard a Peregrine
Falcon kakking. I looked up and two birds were chasing each other
around the Bank of America building. The light was bad so I could not
tell if they were juveniles or adults. One headed off with the other
bird still screaming until a few minutes later the other bird headed
off in the direction of the first one. On Monday I saw a male American
Kestrel bombing an accipiter in Smokey Point. I've never seen kestrels
in that area although it is good habitat. I'm sure they are there but
it was nice to confirm!

Yesterday afternoon here in Maple Leaf a Sharp-shinned Hawk blasted by
me while walking the dog and on the way home I heard a guttural/annoyed
crow sound (I don't know how to describe it in words but I'm sure many
of you know what I'm talking about) and looked up to see a merlin fly
through (12th and 89th). Today while working in Greenwood I heard the
exact same crow noise and looked up-I knew to expect a raptor-maybe
even a merlin and there one was with a crow hot on its tail! A great
week for raptors so far.
