Hello, tweets.

I was just charmed by a Ruby-crowned Kinglet in the yard that flew out
from a leafless tree, looped through the air and came back, then
repeated this again and again. I'm sure it was going after woolly
aphids, which are floating everywhere in the airspace around our yard
now. This is an annual event, but I hadn't seen any small bird
flycatching them before this.

Woolly aphids are very interesting tiny insects, with a complex life
cycle.
