I was so rattled by the Jays knocking at the door, I forgot to add my
sighting a Mourning Dove this week. I love listening to this one.

Then there was something icky - a dead rat or mouse with its head
lopped off. A predatory bird was here, possibly. This is in a small
stand of trees in a field with lots of grass and a little dead wood.

Are there parts of a kill that a predatory bird refuses to eat? Curious.
