Saturdays outing was much more pleasant than Fridays. The light was GREAT and there was no RAIN! I stopped at the Stanwood SR 532 Ponds in the morning and the ponds were full of shorebirds. Approx. 300 Dowitchers, 200 Dunlins, a handful of Greater Yellowlegs, Western Sandpipers, and Least Sandpipers. I then headed out to Jensen Access where there were numerous birders and a few hunters. The birders were looking for the Sharp-tailed Sandpiper, which was located, a pair actually, by Marv Breece. There were also several Golden, American and Black-bellied Plovers, Least Sandpipers, Am Pipits, and a couple of Raptor flyovers. The hunters located Snow Geese. The birders quarry was too far off for photos with my little lens. At the end of Rawlins Road there were Western Meadowlarks (6 ea), a single Northern Shrike, Great Blue Herons (2 ea), Song Sparrows (several), Marsh Wrens (1 seen 3 heard), American Bittern (in flight), a Bald Eagle, and Northern Harriers. I also stopped at Hayton Reserve where the Snow Geese were feeding. In addition to the Snow Geese there was a family of Blue Geese and several Cackling Geese.

It was a GREAT DAY to be birding.
