Neglected to mention that Anne and I also had a very puzzling buteo that, after studying the specialty literature last night, I am concluding was an adult dark-morph HARLAN'S x light morph Alaskan RED-TAILED HAWK. The overall plumage and gizz favored Harlan's, but the breast was light and the bird had a dark belly-band; the rump also had some mottled whitish. Also neglected to report that I had a longspur, sp. over s. Graysmarsh.

On Com. Terns and Bonaparte's: I agree with those who sense a much smaller passage than was once the case. Seems like the Point No Point-Edmonds-Kingston-Bainbridge beat still does OK, but sites north and westward that had major flights say, back in the early 1980s--aren't getting many any more. I remember days at the Dungeness Spit in Sept when you could see hundreds of both species, same up a San Juan I. off Cattle Pt. Did these two decline, or move toward a more inland passage route?
