Kathy and I birded Okanogan County Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning, October 23rd, 24th and 25th.
Highlights Friday included (1) Bonaparte's Gull west of the Brewster public boat launch at the city park,
(1) American White Pelican at the Okanogan River mouth, (2) Northern Shrikes on the Cameron lake Road,
and (17) Eurasian Collared Doves in the town of Okanogan. Saturday we started the day with a flock of
(65) Wild Turkeys along Pine Creek Road, then had (1) Northern Shrike in the Sinlahekin WMA, and (1) Clark's Grebe
with (3) Western Grebe, (2) Red-necked and (7) Horned Grebes on Palmer Lake. Highlight of the trip was
a single female White-winged Scoter on Sidley Lake, just west of Molson. Sunday we had (2) Eared grebes
with (2) Horned and (3) Western Grebes at the Methow River mouth, viewed from the Pateros City Park.
At Twin Lakes, south of Winthrop, we had (2) Bonaparte Gulls. We finished mid-day at Pearrygin Lake where
we found (1) Greater White-fronted Goose in a flock of Canada and Cackling Geese.
