Hi All,

After working long hours for the past several days trying to help loons,
murres and grebes affected by the algae bloom on the outer coast, I spent my
time off today looking for birds that still had clean feathers and their
waterproofing intact. I found what I was looking for along the Edmonds
waterfront, and took great pleasure in watching a number of Horned and
Red-necked Grebes, Surf Scoters, Barrow?s Goldeneyes, and various gull
species swimming happily in the sound. The best show was put on by a
Double-crested Cormorant that had caught a large sculpin. It took him quite
some time to subdue the fish and get it oriented correctly for swallowing.
I took several photos of the process, although he was at the far limit of my
