Busy with work projects this weekend, managed to spend virtually the entire day in the yard Sunday. Counted about 35 species of birds around and about. Nothing real exciting, but a few migrants passing through, including two Yellow, two Orange-crowned and a Black-throated Gray Warbler; Vaux's Swifts; perhaps 30 Swainson's Thrushes heard in pre-dawn overflight; also the Pac-slope Flycatcher was heard again. Noting others entries on late-nesting birds, I wonder if this bird isn't still involved with a late nesting effort, since it is right where a pair usually are present through the summer. Perhaps our unusually hot summer has encouraged some species to nest later, or even double-clutch this year.



Perhaps the best bird on Sunday was a FOS LINCOLN'S SPARROW under the power lines near the drive. We get very few and this bird was a few days or so early for a lowland returner. Fall migration seems to be upon us, let's all get out and bird!
