Puget Sound Bird Fest weekend is packed with opportunities to see birds doing all sorts of things, so be sure and check out the schedule soon! Kara Whittaker will be our keynote speaker at the opening reception Friday evening. Come and meet Pilchuck Audubon Society members and local birders, and hear Kara's presentation about her research with John Marzluff at the U of W on how urban development is affecting native songbirds. Saturday has more great speakers, and some guided walks and field trips. If you've been meaning to go to Monroe for Swifts Night Out, but it's just too far to drive, sign up to go on our "Swift Bus" from Edmonds and enjoy two bird festivals in one day! You'll be transported on a comfortable charter bus, with a guide that can tell you all about the effort to save the chimney at Frank Wagner Elementary School that is a roost for thousands of migratory Vaux's Swifts, and a gourmet boxed dinner from Olive's included, all for $24. On Sunday there are more field trips, including a Birding Kayak Tour at Marina Beach, and our self-guided tour of certified Backyard Wildlife Habitats. Come and join us at Puget Sound Bird Fest in Edmonds!
