Hi Tweeters,

A bit out of my 'turf' but I birded the Gray's Harbour area on Friday and found the following goodies:

TOKELAND MARINA:

One BAR-TAILED GODWIT amongst the 500 plus Marbled Godwits. Bird was very cooperative and close in at high tide. I got decent photos for documentation and will post after my weekend trip.

Extremely pale bird, supercilium was prominent and white under the wings the few times I saw it flush with the large flock. Perhaps, the same bird Steve Nord and I found a couple of weeks ago flying with the mixed flock of Marbleds.

MIDWAY BEACH:

Ponds were extremely dry but found 3 BUFF BREASTED SANDPIPERS, 4 BAIRDS, and one SNOWY PLOVER. There were also at least two LAPLAND LONGSPURS and one Yellow headed blackbird to give it an interesting mix.

BOTTLE BEACH:

Was very quiet only 3 RED KNOTS mingling with some Black bellied Plovers and Black Turnstones.

OCEAN SHORES:

The QUEEN EIDER still persist amongst the scoters. At Tonquin Ave, I flushed and heard the AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER calling. There were two PECTORALS, one Lesser Yellowlegs, and a pair of RED NECKED PHAROLOPES.

Not too shabby of a day at the beach. Weather was pleasant.
