Hi MaryFrances and Tweets

I didn't see the message until later this afternoon, but the WESTERN SCREECH-OWL is still in Juanita Bay Park. At 3:30 pm it was still perched in the willow that MaryFrances described, although looking at Mark Hoffman's pictures it has obviously moved somewhat. It is still visible to the unaided eye and fairly nicely visible thru binoculars, but was not really well placed for pictures. I got some adequate ones, but it was just further enough in that front vegetation could get in the way of the camera.

Nice bird!

Out at the platform a SORA was picking over the lily pads just to the east of the platform about 40 feet.

The roosting WESTERN SCREECH-OWL that Ryan Merrill reported last week at Juanita Bay Park is still in the same general location: walk out the middle boardwalk (easternmost of the two) and follow it as it turns to the left; at the opening on the left (about halfway down), it's perched in the weeping willow, next to the trunk but out in the open. When I left it was starting to rain fairly hard, so not sure if he'll move into more cover.
