Hi,

My own (& only) autumn sighting of Sandhill Cranes was on a Biology class field trip near Blanchard Mountain (Skagit County) on Oct 10th, 1989. A flock of 10 flew in from just flying along the Chuckanut coast. They were calling; until they hit a thermal, at which time they went silent and broke their formation to circle ever higher toward the east. I judged them to be the smaller Lesser Sanddhills. It was probably the same group that were loitering for at least a few days over the border in the Vancouver area.

I'm curious about fall migration locations/approximate dates for Sandhill Cranes in Washington. I look forward to any info, thanks!
