At about 4:30 PM today Josh Parrott, Tim Mann and I went out to Hayton Reserve to see if we could find the Buff-breasted SP that Gary Bletch reported two days ago.? When we arrived, a group of birders from England (guide Richard Coomber of Ornitholidays)?had their scopes trained on it in the field east of the entry road.? They did not even know that?the Buff-breasted SP?had been recently reported!? There were many Killdeer and probably more than the 22 Baird's Sandpipers that Keith and Jan Wiggers reported yesterday.? We saw only one Western SP in the mix.? Two Peregrine Falcons kept a flock of shorebirds in the distance busy.? At the Maupin Road Reserve, there were at least 150 Red-breasted Mergansers and 15 Pied-billed Grebes out in the salt water.? A great day!
