HI ALL:
At 3:13pm today I got a call from Brad Waggoner that he just found a
Lewis's Woodpecker at "Johnsonville Farm". This farm is located off of
Fletcher Bay Road. From High School Road turn south towards Gazzam lake.
"Johnson Lane" is located on the right hand side just before Island
Center Road. When I got there around 3:30pm, George Gerdts told me that Doug
Watkins had the bird further up the lane, but it had just flown this way.
We checked the area off of Fletcher Bay Road , when Doug called George to
let him know that the bird was back.
When we got to the spot Doug was at, he had the bird in his scope! It was
an adult bird. The bird hung around for about half an hour. It was last
seen flying towards the north. This is a first island record and about the
third for Kitsap County.
