Hello,

While camping with some friends along Tacoma Creek in Pend Oreille County, I had some time to explore my favorite county. Some good news,,, White Winged Crossbills are easy to find on Mt Salmo. After locating a flock of about 30 White Wings at Gypsy Meadows, i continued to find pairs and small groups all the way to the top. Other notable birds: Pine Grosbeak (4), Boreal Chickadees, and a male Dusky Grouse almost right underneath the old lookout tower at the summit.

At the north end of Sullivan Lake, there was a Spotted Sandpiper, a Solitary Sandpiper. Am Pipits, and an Am Dipper.

Birding along Pend Oreille River was slow except for a flock of 15 Am Avocets along the Kalispell Indian Reservation. There were still 20 White Pelicans along he river as well.

Friday afternoon, my friend took me fourwheeling up to Calispell Peak which is in Stevens County where I found my county lifer Dusky Grouse. Also seen up high were more Am Pipits and Horned Larks.

This morning I found a Black Backed Woodpecker above the Batey Bould ORV area. From the place we camped, I heard N Pygmy, N saw Whet, and Barred Owls.

Blessings
