Hi Tweets,

Yesterday afternoon a Western Scrub-Jay made an appearance in trees
near the Frances Anderson Center and then showed up again this
morning near the Willow Creek Hatchery. It was briefly at the top of
a Western Red Cedar across the street from the Hatchery, along with a
Steller's Jay, about 9:15 a.m. I led this morning's bird walk for
Puget Sound Bird Fest at the Marsh, the Hatchery, and the Point
Edwards Public Path. The Marsh was notable for lots of exposed mud
and a dearth of shorebirds. Here are the birds we saw:

Edmonds Marsh

Canada Goose
Mallard
Great Blue Heron
Cooper's Hawk (1)
Killdeer
Anna's Hummingbird
Belted Kingfisher
American Crow
Barn Swallow
Marsh Wren
European Starling
Savannah Sparrow
Song Sparrow
Red-winged Blackbird
House Finch

Willow Creek Hatchery

Vaux's Swift (10)
Red-breasted Sapsucker (1)
Northern Flicker
Black-capped Chickadee
American Robin
Steller's Jay
Western Scrub-Jay (1)

Point Edwards Public Path

Mallard
Northern Shoveler (1)
Glaucous-winged Gull
Great Blue Heron
Osprey (1)
Band-tailed Pigeon (5)
Downy Woodpecker (1)
Yellow Warbler (1)
Black-throated Gray Warbler (1)
American Goldfinch

Good birding,

Carol Riddell
Edmonds
