today's mystery bird is a lovely north american species that won't too difficult to you to identify, but the photograph is simply stunning; you've just got to see it;

the most recently demystified mystery bird is a Superb Blue Wren, also known as the Blue Fairywren, Malurus cyaneus, courtesy of my friend, Steve Duncan;

there is some discussion as to the sex of this individual, so i am double-checking that now and will let you know what i learn.
