On 8/14 I saw a flock of 15 white-winged crossbills while I was camped at
Joe Lake, which is 5 miles NE of Snoqualmie Pass. They were visiting
Mountain Hemlock trees. I just missed an opportunity to photograph two at
fairly close range - I didn't notice them until they flew because I was busy
taking pictures of Yellow-rumped Warblers. I did get a couple of distant
photos of the crossbills though.

I heard additional crossbills, possibly white-winged, near the freeway along
the road which goes up to the Mount Margaret trail but couldn't visually
confirm the id. Nonetheless, I would expect to see white-winged crossbills
in the near future along trails in old-growth forest near Snoqualmie Pass,
such as the Snow Lake trail.
