Excuse the last minute notice again, but tonight at 8:30 - 10:30 pm I will be leading a night hike at Camp Long featuring a search for Barred Owls and a hoot or two for a possible Great Horned Owl. We will search for owl pellets and examine contents will they have eaten rats? or moles? or? (I will also show a photo sent to me of a Barred Owl eating one of our few remaining Screech Owls this summer at Lincoln park.) We will also survey slugs now on the "run" with the rain lubricating their run-ways. I'll bring the Bat Dectector to bring any bat echolocation calls down to a frequency that we can hear. For you plant and fungus enthusiasts we will also examine the flora and fungi that are sprouting and senescing.

Fee is $8 to Camp Long - pre-register at 206 684-7434 or pre-register on-line at www.seattle.gov/parks:
Fee to maintain the park is pulling one weed of your choice - Stinky Bob, Wall Lettuce, Nipplewort or dislodging an English Ivy snake.

We will meet at the front of the lodge building at 5200 35th Av SW at 8:30, go inside for a bit to look at our owl "live" mounts then head out for the hike. Come whether you get a chance to pre-register or not, there should still be room for you.
