Hello, fellow birders. Many of you may never come to Douglas or Okanogan
counties, but we are having an unusual number of Am. White Pelicans and
Great Egrets, mostly between Pateros and Bridgeport, on the Columbia
River. Today, in less than 20 miles, we counted 12 Great Egrets. Most
(6) were seen from the airport overlook, north of Brewster on Hwy. 97.
Four were seen at the mouth of the Methow River. One was seen from the
rest area south of Pateros, and one was seen between Pateros and Brewster.

Most of the pelicans can be seen from the airport overlook, or on the
Doug. Co. side from Hwy. 173, as well as on the rocks below Chief Joseph
Dam, at Bridgeport. Meredith Spencer, Bridgeport
