During a visit to Seattle this summer I spotted a bird on Alki Point (July
20, 2009) that no one here in Arizona has been able to identify. Three
pictures are on my Flickr ?mystery bird? album at
http://www.flickr.com/photos/42713742 at N02/.
This mystery bird was spotted on some breakwater rocks nearly at the tip of
Alki Point . Some condos and the Duwamish Head Greenbelt are across Alki
Avenue SW from the little dock park where this bird was spotted. I would
estimate the bird was about 7 inches long. It hopped around the rocks
looking for something to eat for several minutes. The red around the eye
and the reddish crown are what throw everyone off. Can you help solve the
mystery?
Thank you,
