I had a beautiful day birding my way around Whatcom today. I started at
Lake Terrel early in the morning, then visited Sandy Point, Birch Bay,
Blaine, Drayton Harbor, Semiahmoo, and ended the day at Tennant Lake.
The birding was good, especially at Lake Terrel, and I ended up with 73
species for the day. Here are the highlights.

Lake Terrel ( this place looks like great shorebird habitat right now
with the water so low. Looks like a great place for Pectorals to show
up)

1 Black-throated Grey Warbler

1 Hammond's Flycatcher

7 Long-billed Dowitchers

2 Greater Yellowlegs

2 Vaux's Swifts

2 Purple Finches

and LOTS of American Pipits

also good numbers of Savanah and Lincoln's Sparrows

Birch Bay
5 Bonapartes Gulls

Blaine Harbor

10 Common Terns

Semiahmoo

3 Common Terns

There were good numbers of scoters at Blaine, otherwise diving bird
numbers were still pretty low. I did see 1 Rhinocerous Auklet in Birch
Bay though. Also of note yesterday at Semiahmoo I saw 1 American
Golden-plover and 1 Pacific Golden-plover yesterday, but there were no
Golden-plovers present today.
