At a brief visit to Pt. Wilson a few minutes before the equinox this afternoon we saw the first of our winter birds around in decent numbers relatively close to shore. 12-15 Marble Murlets in non-breeding plumage along with Common Murres, Pigeon Guillemots, Brant's Cormorant (eating 3 or 4 scalpin in consecutive dives), a juvenile Rhino and a Red-necked Phalarope. Maybe our long summer drought has ended??
