Today 13 of us enjoyed a nice walk at Nisqually. It was pretty quiet but
we did have 2 "hot spots" that made the day.

There wasn't much behind the visitor center but we did have a HAIRY
WOODPECKER in the parking lot. There were lots of CANADA GEESE around and a few
MALLARDS. There were also 5 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE along the entrance
road as we finished the walk.

Part way out to the twin barns, past the riparian overlook, in the willows
we found a small flock of mixed warblers that included BLACK-THROATED
GRAYS, YELLOW, YELLOW-RUMPED, WILSON'S, and ORANGE-CROWNED. We also had our
first RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETS of the fall here.

Later at the twin barns overlook we found a flock of sparrows that included
SAVANAHS, SONG, GOLDEN-CROWNED, WHITE-CROWNED, and LINCOLN'S SPARROWS. We
also had GOLDFINCH and BEWICK'S WREN in this area.

Heading toward the Nisqually River we found a RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKER, more
warblers and BROWN CREEPER.

The river was extremely high and the only thing we saw was a HARBOR SEAL.
We did hear a BELTED KINGFISHER upriver.

For the day we had 36 species with nothing new for the year. The only
mammal seen was the HARBOR SEAL.
