I don't think you'll ever find "consensus" [all in agreement] one way
or the other on controversial issues such as this one! If feeding
birds were bad for them, and cause them to lose their hunting skills,
people who band birds at feeding stations [usually back yard] would
not encounter what seem to be higher-than-usual return rates of the
migratory birds they band [by higher than usual, I refer to studies
that have shown "only" a 1-2% "return" of individuals for species at
major, long-term banding stations, most (as high as 95% ??) of whose
