The sound of Sandhill Cranes grabbed my attention while crunching some data today. Looking out the window I counted 17 cranes floating into the south unit. I've been waking up most mornings to Greater White-fronted and Canada Geese. I don't have a lot of time to go birding but it sure is nice looking out the living room window and seeing all the waterfowl, cranes, and hawks moving along the ridge and above the refuge. My bird feeders have turned into accipter feeders the past few days with Cooper's and Sharpies enforcing the rules of natural selection a few times a day!
