Today at Leadbetter Point I observed a Ruff, in direct comparison with one
of nine Pectoral Sandpipers also present. This was at 10:45 AM, about one
hour after high tide. Location of my closest sighting (from 50 to 150
feet) was beyond the Big Slough, however these birds appeared on both sides
of this obstacle, for about 10 minutes of my observation time. Also
present at the Point were 5 White-fronted Geese, hundreds of N. Pintail and
Am. Wigeon, 12 Brown Pelicans, 1 Black-bellied Plover, 2 Least Sandpipers,
1 Am. Pipit, 2 N. Harriers, and a Red-tailed Hawk.

I was present from 9:25 till 11:55 AM; I left just as thick gray
rain-soaked clouds were rolling in strongly from the SW. By 1 PM it was
raining and blowing with gusto in Long Beach, WA.
