Yesterday, Bonnie Dunham & I saw the Pacific Golden-Plover in the same scope
view as one of the American Golden-Plovers.

Subject: [Tweeters] Pacific Golden-Plover at Tyson Ponds

Hello all,

This morning on my way back to Walla Walla I checked Tyson blood ponds
looking for the Sharp-tailed Sandpiper. Instead, I found a PACIFIC
GOLDEN-PLOVER in the first pond with close comparison to an American. Also
by standing on top of my car I was able to scope a 2nd American
Golden-Plover and 2 Black-bellied Plovers in the far pond, as well as about
15 Pectoral Sandpipers, several Western, and Long-billed Dowitchers.

The Pacific Golden-Plover gave a good study at pretty close range with its
much more golden appearance and nice short primaries coupled with long
tertials, accentuating the short-primary look. The American Golden-Plover
was right on hand for a good comparison. I did get photos that show the
bird pretty well. Jim and Sue Parrish also were there to see it.

Earlier, I had a Golden-crowned Sparrow at Sacajawea State Park in Franklin
County.

Cheers,
