Dear Tweeters,

Thanks, Marv!!!

Michael Willison and I got great looks at the Sharp-tailed Sandpiper at Jensen Access this evening (9-29-09). There were lots of shorebirds besides the Sharp-tailed:

Killdeer (heard);
Black-bellied Plover: scores of them;
Wilson's Snipe: 3;
S-B Dowitchers: 2 or more;
Greater Yellowlegs: 8 or more;
Least Sandpiper: several handfuls;
Dunlin: one dun-coloured individual;
Pectoral Sandpiper: at least two.

We also saw three separate flocks of geese, each with about 27 to 30 birds: one flock each of Canada, White-fronted, and Snow!

Barn Swallows and Common Yellowthroats were still hanging in there at Fir Island, even as snow began to collect on the foothills.

Thanks again, Marv! I wish I could go out there again tomorrow and try for the Knot!

Yours truly,
