Hey All,
Went on my first bird "walk" in months to the mouth of the Elwha River. Upon reaching the beach I was greeted by an odd looking sparrow, which, by behavior, etc... I thought Savannah for sure, but then I was struck by the bold, long, and very buffy, almost orange eyeline as well as the striking facial pattern and white edging to the tertials and wing coverts. The white nuchal collar doesn't really seem to match anything in my books. I don't really know, but it almost looks like the Baird's Sparrow in Nat. Geo., though I am pretty sure that it is a Savannah Sparrow, being the most variable bird in the world, sort of... I would love some input on this. I have some cropped photos of the bird, as well as some Pectoral Sandpiper shots on my blog,

I saw 4 Savannah Sparrows, none of which looked like this bird. The color of the eyeline in the photo is pretty true to what I saw.

1000 + gulls, (est. 175 Heerman's, half/half California/Glaucous-winged)
