Marion -- Absolutely NO to your questions. If this bird was seen by
you, where you saw it, it seems to me that it is HIGHLY unlikely to
have been a transplant. Finch species are "normal" such birds. There
was a "confirmed-by-many" Verdin in Santa Barbara County CA a few
years ago, totally unexpected for such a small, non-migratory species
(and as you see so often other non-migratories DO show up). NO ONE
suggested or even hinted that THAT Verdin might have been "moved
there by humans". You have a legitimate sighting. Just because others
have not confirmed it (independently, as "science" may require) does
not negate your sighting, nor should it lend ANY detriment to your
ability to conclude you have a realizable LIFE bird! There have been
other such sightings - even if a particular bird records committee
does not accept it, you should keep it. YOU know what you saw and
