Actually, Kern and Santa Barbara counties abut at a corner in the
Cuyama Valley (NE for SBCo, SW for Kern). The Santa Barbara Verdin
was perhaps 100 km from where they are expected in Kern. Given that
birds show up where least expected, I suppose I should have used
Variegated flycatcher showing up in Washington as an example, then
there would be "incredible" comment in the other direction -- Jim Greaves
