Dear Tweeters,

I don't know if it's that rare, but I was surprised to find two WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS at Lewis and Clark Trail State Park near Dayton. They were there on both Thursday and Friday, April 1-2, 2010. They stayed in the area between the campground restrooms, the river, and campsites 16 and 17. Technically, one must be camped at the park to enter the campground, at least according to the signs.

Also at this site on 4-02-10, very early, was a singing Western Wood-pewee. It was a "heard-only" bird, but it sang for a good five minutes--no doubt about it. This was at dawn, heard from campsite 16.

Sorry for late post--just got back from a 20-county birding trip! Other goodies included:

Sage Thrasher singing on 4-03-10 at westbound Sagegrass rest area, Kittitas County, Interstate 90.

Four Great Egrets at Woodland Bottoms on 3-28-10.

Two Rough-legged Hawks in a blizzard on Mountain Road out of Pomeroy, Garfield County, on 4-02-10.

I saw lots of other good birds, but cannot remember them right now. Too tired!
