Hi Kathy and Tweeters:
I'll go down to the Kent Valley today to look for the Golden Eagle. I
"think" that the U-turn flower patch is on West Valley hwy between Willis
(also known as Kent-Des Moines Rd) and S 277th (Smith Bros Dairy). Probably
closer to Willis, maybe even at the Frager Rd turnoff from W Valley. The
dead end road described by Kathy is S 285th, which turns from W Vly toward
I-167. Big field there which can be viewed from 285th. Sometimes it has
seasonal ponds. It's 8 blocks south of Smith Bros.
Here in my neighborhood in Des Moines there are moderate numbers of singing
PURPLE FINCHES. The Purple Finches started arriving her in good numbers on
March 3. A few Audubon's YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS and at least one OR-CROWNED
WARBLER are singing now. There are singing AMER. GOLDFINCHES in Des Moines
and down in the Kent valley.
