There's been a Bald Eagle in and out of that heronry over the past several
weeks. I observed an eagle fly over twice yesterday morning, with herons on
many nests, but not all. Most of the herons have returned to their nests
after each eagle disturbance, so you may have observed the colony soon after
they've been disturbed.

Hello, tweets.
I drove by the Matthews Beach (Seattle) heronry at 9 am this morning, and I
was surprised to see no herons at all on the nests. Does anyone know if this
colony has been deserted, and if so, why?
Thanks.
