I'm new to Tweeters bur need help identifying an unusual looking bird. It was only in my yard once yesterday (Saturday 4/3). Finch/sparrow size with very dark brown-red head. Large finch-sized beak. But the most striking feature was a very strongly spotted breast in brown-red with cream colored background. I'm on west hill in Federal Way and have been feeding in my back yard for 9 years. This is the first time I've seen this bird. It seems more like something I've seen in bird stores as an exotic type of finch.

Has anyone in the Auburn/Kent/Federal Way area had experienced an unusual finch in their backyard?
