Dennis Paulson inquired about the herons in the rookery at NE 95th and Sandpoint Way NE.
I drove by there this morning at about 8:30 and again at 10 AM. The nests were full.
I live a short distance from here right on Lake Washington just north of Matthews Beach. There has been howling winds for the past two days. It was really loud and I can only guess that the herons left for a safe location. I have been under the impression looking at the birds still mostly standing and carrying sticks that they have not started sitting on the eggs yet. Could be wrong but maybe this is also why they all left for two days.
Good to know they have not abandoned this site.
