Dear Tweeters:

I just returned from a yoga retreat in Yelapa Mexico, which is 45 minutes by water taxi south of Puerto Vallarta (no connecting roads or cars).

The birding was great! Within just a few steps from the yoga studio and the casa where we stayed, I saw several species of tropical birds including Chachalaca, Orange-fronted Parakeet, Military Macaw, Cinnamon Hummingbird, Elegant Trogon, Russet-crowned Motmot, Golden-cheeked Woodpecker, Lineated Woodpecker, Great Kiskadee, Masked Tityra, San Blas Jay, Streak-backed Oriole, and Yellow-winged Cacique.

For all of you Yogis and Yoginis out there and anyone who likes getting off the beaten path, I highly recommend it. We stayed at the Casas de los Suenos (http://www.palapainyelapa.com/pages/suenos.html) where the accommodations were rustic luxury. There are even special retreats set up for a combination of yoga and birding. See http://yogainyelapa.com/.

I add the usual disclaimer - I have no financial or other interest in either business enterprise.

Namaste!
