Hello Tweeters,
This is going to be a short report only from the Leahy Grouse location.I
birdied with Carol Riddlell over the Eastern Weekend.It was good that we
checked the area out on the evening on Sunday.The weather than was windy and
cloudy,driving up I had a Northern Shrike ,and two Red tailed Hawks on the
only BIG pine tree.Seeing them again on Monday morning make me believe that
this birds breeding in this tree.
First there where 3 females flying over the road,and later with Carol we saw
3 males .also flying over the road,getting close looks on this 3 adult
males.There was no Horned Larks,but when a Marsh Hawk flying low,there where
birds every where flying up in flocks.Later in the late evening ,we saw a
short eared Owl and made a quick appearance.
The morning of the 5th Monday we started at 6.00 AM,and it lightly start
snowing,but after 30 minute the snow increased and got heavy coming
down.There was no visibility for us to seeing any Grouse.
By 8.30 am we left driving out .It was so good that we had the good looks so
close flying over the road.
Driving on Highway 17 only driving 40 miles do to the slick roads Icy and
slush. Reaching Exit of
Highway 2,there where no snow at all and the roads as clear.
I write the rest of our trip up later,since I having my server for the
Internet changed to Comcast today.
