Hi,
My husband and I got good views at 6:50am, and then at 9:45 the bird fed for about 5 minutes, allowing Ann Kale from Castle Rock to get a good look, this was her second trip. Her first was Sunday, and she is one of 5 who waited 4 hours, with no luck.
So come at your own risk, and maybe plan on staying a while. With the weather turning bad tomorrow, I anticipate his being here a great deal, as that appears to be his habit at this point.
On plumage, it appears that his head is now showing more solid black, esp on the cheek area up to the crown, which is still splotchy, as the mantle is as well. When sitting, it appears his primaries are looking more solid and definitive in the black and white pattern. I am no ornithologist, and a rather rusty birder, but it does appear to be changing somewhat, perhaps starting his breeding plumage. I will be posting some pic again today, to see just what changes there are. I do not have my new lens, so these are not the quality I would like, the lens comes next week........
