Subject: [Tweeters] Common Mergansers at Chambers Creek

My family and I checked out the mouth of Chambers Creek yesterday evening
after reading Dea Just's post, and found no cormorants, but lots of COMMON
MERGANSERS hanging out in the estuary. There were some fishing at the
bottom of the dam, where the flow was strongest. They looked funny because
the current was carrying them downstream almost as fast as they could swim
up. Here is a link to a video I took of the action:

We also saw at least two BALD EAGLES hanging about in the trees, a GREAT
BLUE HERON, BELTED KINGFISHER, and lots of CROWS near the dam, and a group
of BUFFLEHEAD and GOLDENEYES farther down the estuary, but didn't have time
to get a good look at those. No sign of any osprey, though. We'll be
checking out this area again.
