Hey tweets, dodging raindrops and hail yesterday and today, I stole a
few minutes from my desk's ball and chain to run out to the Fill and
see what was what. A good-sized flock of American Pipits was foraging
in the playfield south of the helipad yesterday. I counted at least 8
heads in a depression (geologically speaking - the birds seemed
cheerful enough), and I think there were more I couldn't see. There
were also two Cliff Swallows hawking for insects over the lake, along
with vast numbers of Violet-greens and the now-ensconced and
ubiquitous Tree Swallows. Still no Barns. This morning I found a
Greater Yellowlegs on the Main Pond, and a gorgeously endowed Common
Yellowthroat male in the Kern's Restoration Pond area. Now, despite
the enticing sunshine, it's back to work. Sigh. - Connie, Seattle
