Hi, Tweets

I usually try hard to thank people for their reports, but I am having awful e-mail problems - I get all my messages, but cannot reply. I have to cut and paste (and try to remember everything) to another server/whatever. So, please accept my apologies - I do appreciate the reports very much.

While March is a good migration month for turkey vultures, April should be even better. Many of the vultures head west from the Sequim/ Port Angeles area and I've been told by locals on the Peninsula (Olympic) that many of them cross at Salt Creek where we have done the Sept/Oct. counts. Anyway, following is the report for March 2010 for Washington, Oregon, and British Columbia:

March

02 - 5 circling over a Suffolk Punch

08 - 2 over the Vancouver Trout Hatchery; 1 over south Nanaimo, B.C.; 4 heading north over the Scatter Creek WA

09 - 1 just east of Littlerock; 1 near the Port Mann Bridge in Surrey, B.C.

10 - 10 flying southwest over the western edge of Dungeness Spit

12 - 1 above Sunshine Ridge in Nanaimo, B.C.

14 - 1 at Underwood

16 - 1 circling over north Wenatchee

17 - 1 between Forest Park and the Willamette River, Oregon

18 - 1 between St.Andrew's Road and Jameson Lake

19 - 1 heading north near the Friday Harbor UW labs; 1 heading north over Bainbridge Island; 1 over Kingston

21 - 10-11 circling over University Place; 1 on Maury Island

22 - 1 past Dupont

24 - 1 at the north end of Bainbridge heading north

27 - 1 over Bridgeport Bar

30 - 1 at West Beach/FortNugent on Whidbey Island

31 - 1 thermalling over Discovery Park

Thanks for all your reports. Keep looking up in April!!

Cheers, Diann
