In contrast to yesterday's wind and cold temperature, today started
out pleasantly in Edmonds. No wind on the Sound and a warmer early
morning temperature. It was downright warm by the time I returned
home. There were over 100 Brants, about 45 Western Grebes, 6-8
Rhinoceros Auklets, lots of Bonaparte's Gulls flying about, and two
Harlequin Ducks flew by the public pier. A couple of Violet-green
Swallows flew by and headed out over the Sound. The marsh was quiet
this morning. From Point Edwards a few more V-G Swallows were seen,
as was a female Scaup and a male Rufous Hummingbird. No eagles were
seen but the marsh heronry remains unoccupied. Two Great Blue Herons
are continuing efforts to nest inside the marina.
